When witnessing a car hit someone, the bank teller Arandir grants the request of a kiss on the mouth, made by the man about to die. The act was staged by Amado, a sensationalist reporter who goes on to explore the kiss between two men to sell newspapers, as well as inciting police to investigate a supposed connection between Arandir and the dead man. Arandir also is involved in accusations made by his father-in-law, Aprígio, which generates many doubts in his wife, Selminha.
